Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Hon. Sampson Ahi, has said that the government will unveil a comprehensive agribusiness export policy next month that will increase Ghana’s presence in the global agricultural market.

Speaking at Saturday, June 21’s Channel One TV’s AgriFair 2025, Mr. Ahi clarified that the new policy will encourage value addition and higher output along the agricultural value chain while offering exporters incentive structures and strategic direction.

“As a Ministry, we are finalizing a programme to launch the agribusiness export policy, which will clearly outline the benefits and opportunities available to exporters.”

We expect to roll it out sometime next month, after which we will engage directly with stakeholders to ensure they take full advantage of the support the government is offering,” he said.

The President is personally chairing a national committee aimed at encouraging the export of locally made items, Hon. Ahi added, underscoring President John Dramani Mahama’s active role in advancing sustainable exports.

“Our President is championing sustainable exports and is leading efforts to ensure that what we produce here is exported. Value addition is key; our farmers must continue to process and package their products properly to be globally competitive. Thankfully, we are seeing great progress in that direction,” he stated.

He underlined that in order to guarantee the program’s successful execution, the soon-to-be-released policy will not only outline the government’s framework for supporting exporters but also promote inclusive communication with sector stakeholders.

Farmers, processors, agribusiness owners, and legislators are among the members of the agricultural ecosystem that have expressed interest in attending AgriFair 2025, which is now being held at Accra’s Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.

Both Citi FM and Channel One TV are providing live coverage of the event, which runs until Sunday, June 22.

Hon. Eric Opoku, Minister of Food and Agriculture, and Mr. Noah Tumfo, Chief Director of the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness & Industry, joined Hon. Ahi at the exhibition.

Hon. Bright Demodzi, coordinator of Feed Ghana, and Mr. Kwasi Etu Bonde, technical advisor to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, visited several booths and engaged with industry participants.
