A Special Operations Support Team has been sent by the Ghana Police Service to Nkwanta in the Oti Region in response to recent attacks that caused fatalities and injuries.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) authorised the deployment in order to bolster security and assist in re-establishing peace in the Nkwanta South Municipality, according to a statement released by the Oti Regional Police Command on June 20.

According to the police, the special squad was sent from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to bolster efforts to uphold law and order while investigations are ongoing.

The Service advised the public to maintain composure and assist the authorities while assuring locals that security guards would remain in the area.

Additionally, locals have been urged to offer reliable information that could support the attacks’ ongoing investigations.

The police reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining the municipality’s peace and security as well as safeguarding people and property.
