Laterbiokorshie warehouses are destroyed by fire, and an explosion is recorded.

An explosion is said to have started the fire that destroyed a Chinese merchant’s warehouse in Laterbiokorshie, Accra.

Witnesses reported that the fire, which began at approximately 4 p.m. yesterday, swiftly expanded to nearby houses and destroyed at least three more residential buildings.

At 8:50 p.m. yesterday, Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) personnel were still on the scene, fighting to contain the fire and stop it from becoming worse.

Although the precise origin of the initial explosion has not yet been established, initial investigations indicate that a power-related issue may be the reason.

Casualties have not been confirmed as of yet.
