Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has received congratulations from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on her appointment as the Commonwealth Secretary-General.

The Heads of Government who voted at a retreat in Apia gave Madam Ayorkor Botchwey a resounding majority in the fiercely contested Commonwealth Secretary-General election.

“Today, I feel a deep sense of pride and joy in congratulating Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway on her election as the next and 7th Secretary-General of the Commonwealth,” President Akufo-Addin wrote in a post on his Facebook page.
