Mahama congratulates General Nguema on winning the presidency of Gabon.

General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema has received the warmest congratulations from Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama on his election as Gabon’s president.

“I commend the people of Gabon for their peaceful transition to democratic governance,” President Mahama stated in a congratulatory message.

“This marks a significant step forward, and I am confident that Gabon will continue to play a crucial role in promoting stability and prosperity in our region.”

With almost 90% of the vote, Gabon’s military chief Nguema, who spearheaded a coup in 2023 that overthrew a nearly 60-year dynasty, was victorious in Saturday’s presidential election.
