President John Mahama has declared that after the new payment system is completely up and running, all unpaid allowances for student nurses from January of this year will be paid.
The President recognized payment delays while on his thank-you tour in the Bono East Region, but he reassured trainees that the Finance Minister had included funds in the budget to cover any arrears.
“What has delayed the payment is that we are implementing a new system through the Controller and Accountant General’s Department. Once this system is ready, you’ll receive your allowances every month alongside other public sector workers, and all arrears from January will be paid,” he said.
The President underlined that the trainee allowance system’s prior delays would be eliminated by the new permanent payment architecture, which will guarantee prompt allowance disbursement.
Members of Parliament, state ministers, and a few National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives are accompanying the president.
He is anticipated to speak at a comparable durbar of the Bono region’s chiefs and populace today, Friday, May 30, at Sunyani Jubilee Park.
