Minister For Foreign Affairs celebrates 3 Ghanaians elected to positions at the African Union Commission

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, celebrated the election of three notable Ghanaian diplomats to various positions at the African Union Commission (AUC) with a breakfast gathering with the Ministry’s management and employees. Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, the Head of the Civil Service, was present.

The honorees were Hon. Edem Kwami Senanu, a member of the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption; Ambassador Jane Gasu Aheto, a member of the African Union Commission on International Law; and Ambassador Amma Adomaa Twum-Amoah, the Africa Union Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs, and Social Development.

In his welcome speech, Ambassador Ramses Cleland, the Chief Director, commended the seasoned diplomats for flying the Ghanaian flag with honor and thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the gesture.

He took use of the occasion to exhort all Foreign Service professionals to strive for more possibilities, particularly women.

In addition to congratulating the authorities on their appointments, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, recalled the contributions of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the present President of the Republic, and H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the former President.

In addition, he commended the work of his predecessor, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Chief Director, Ambassador Ramses Cleland, and the Ministry’s employees. He also encouraged the staff to actively look for jobs abroad and promised them his full support in doing so.

Responding on behalf of her colleagues, Ambassador Amma Twum-Amoah thanked colleagues at the Ministry, the Chief Director, Ambassador Ramses Cleland, the President, H. E. John Dramani Mahama, former President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and former Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, for their support.

She gave them her word that they would serve Africa with diligence for the benefit of the Continent and fly the Ghanaian flag with honor.

In a succinct speech, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, the head of the civil service, urged all civil servants to give their all while carrying out their responsibilities and underlined the importance of the civil service in constructing the country.
