The Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie (MP) of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture had a courtesy call from the Greek candidate running for the post of Secretary-General of the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN TOURISM).
The visit was intended to formally solicit Ghana’s support for his candidacy for the position of UN Tourism Secretary-General in the next election.
Madam Marianna Gabriel, the Honorary Consul of Greece to Ghana, and three other people accompanied him.
Among other things, the candidate highlighted sustainable development, inclusive growth, visa issues, connectivity to improve air travel, and improved member-state partnerships in his vision for global tourism.

He emphasized Africa’s strategic significance for the future of international travel and reaffirmed his strong commitment to fostering the growth of the travel industry throughout the continent.
Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Hon. Minister, greeted the candidate and his team and expressed gratitude for their direct involvement in Ghana’s campaign.
She told him that Ghana had also put forward a candidate for the same post and prayed that the best one would win. She also congratulated the candidate and wished him luck in his effort to manage the UN Tourism Organization.
The meeting, which was held in a friendly setting, showed the candidate’s diplomatic reach and understanding of Ghana’s contribution to world tourism diplomacy.
A symbolic gift-giving ceremony and a restatement of Ghana and Greece’s solid bilateral ties marked the end of the collaboration.
