The National Communications Authority (NCA) has awarded three spectrum lots in the 2.3 GHz band to Telecel Ghana, paving the way for the telecommunications company to strengthen its 5G network rollout and expand mobile broadband services across Ghana.
Telecel Ghana secured all three 2.3 GHz spectrum lots for which it submitted applications under the NCA’s competitive licensing process covering the 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 3 GHz frequency bands.
The latest spectrum allocation is expected to enhance Telecel Ghana’s network capacity, particularly as demand for high-speed internet, mobile data and advanced digital services continues to grow.
Confirming the development, Telecel Ghana Director of External Affairs, Komla Buami, said the additional spectrum would provide the company with greater capacity to expand its telecommunications network.
According to him, the newly acquired spectrum will also support efforts to improve network performance and the quality of service delivered to Telecel customers.
The development forms part of Ghana’s broader efforts to expand 5G connectivity, mobile broadband access and digital infrastructure, while improving telecommunications services for consumers and businesses.
The additional 2.3 GHz spectrum is therefore expected to play an important role in Telecel Ghana’s ongoing 5G deployment and network expansion strategy.
