9 suspects were placed under arrest by the Obuasi Circuit Court after they attacked police officers at the Tweapease Senior High School (SHS) park in the Ashanti Region.
The incident, which happened at the Tweapease SHS park, was documented on a widely shared video, which led to the remand.
Joshua “Joey B” Frimpong, Bannor Williams, Isaac “Sporty” Dwumfour, Evans “Pressure King” Bannor, Asiedu “Case Close” Ronald, Sarfo “Okele” Alex, Yaw Alex, Obidiaba Desmond, and Agyemang Emmanuel have all been named as suspects.
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, the Obuasi Circuit Court arraigned the defendants, who were accused of assaulting public officials.
The Ghana Police Service claims that police officers who were on duty at the scene at the time of the occurrence were attacked by the suspects and other people who are currently at large.
Investigations into the crime are still underway, according to police, who also indicate that efforts are being made to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects.
The Ghana Police Service (GPS) warned the public in a statement that assaults on law enforcement officials will not be accepted, emphasising that anyone who do so will be prosecuted and subject to the full force of the law.
