Staff of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) have embarked on industrial action for the first time in about 10 years, reportedly shutting down the draw room as they demand the removal of Director General Mohammed Abdul-Salam, popularly known as Alhaji Lotto.
The workers’ strike has disrupted activities at the NLA as staff reportedly locked up the draw room in protest against the leadership of the Authority.
The development has sparked renewed attention on NLA management, labour concerns and demands for leadership changes within the state-owned lottery institution.
The staff are calling for the removal of Mohammed Abdul-Salam as Director General, making the industrial action one of the most significant labour protests involving NLA employees in recent years.
The strike is expected to generate further discussions about workers’ welfare, institutional leadership, labour relations and the management of Ghana’s lottery sector.
