The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has released its investigative conclusions about alleged offenses related to corruption and corruption involving Charles Adu Boahen, a former Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance.
In November 2022, President Akufo-Addo removed Mr. Adu Boahen from his role as Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance due to accusations of possible corruption made against him in the investigative documentary “Galamsey Economy” by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The President then gave the OSP instructions to look into the aforementioned claims of Mr. Adu Boahen’s involvement in corruption and offenses related to corruption.
In the investigation report, Mr. Adu Boahen was shown requesting a $200,000 appearance fee from an investor in order to meet with the Vice President.
Additionally, it is said that Mr. Adu Boahan advised the undercover investor to assure the Vice President that he would hire some of his family members in order to facilitate the early start of his investment.
Following nearly a year-long investigation, the Office of the Special Prosecutor has made its conclusions public.
