Rotation nurses who started their rotation in July 2022 will shortly receive their allowances following a lengthy period without payment.

This comes after the Ministry of Finance gave the Controller and Accountant General permission to pay allowances to about 16,559 Rotation Nurses, Midwives, and Allied Health Interns across the nation.

The Ministry of Finance wrote to the Account General’s Department, asking them to “effect the payment of their allowances and make appropriate deductions of Social Security and Income Tax to SSNIT and the Domestic Tax Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) when the period is over.”

The Rotational Nurses and Midwives Association (RNMA), which was founded in May 2023, advised its members to maintain composure while management took the appropriate steps to get their allowances paid.

This followed the association’s unannounced visit to the Ministry of Health (MoH) on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

Since the National Service Secretariat (NSS) sent the Rotational Nurses on their deployment in June 2022, they have not received any allowances.
