Kwame Agbodza, Minister of Roads and Highways, has announced new completion dates for the Suame Interchange Project following an inspection tour of the site.

He revealed that the project’s second phase, which focuses on local road upgrades, is anticipated to be finished by October 2026.

By October 2028, the primary three-tier interchange structure is expected to be finished.

According to the Minister, the government’s recent payment of $29.5 million in unpaid arrears to the contractor, Rango Construction Limited, has accelerated project progress.

Phase 2 projects include building overpasses at Anomangye, Maakro, and Abusuakruwa, as well as extending the Offinso Road into a dual carriageway over a 3.1-kilometer section.

Additionally, it covers the construction of around 15 km of vital local roads to enhance traffic flow while the main interchange is being built.

Mr Agbodza reiterated the government’s dedication to enhancing the Ashanti Region’s road network, pointing out that initiatives like the Accra–Kumasi Motorway, the Kumasi Outer Ring Road, and improvements to the Inner Ring Road are all making steady progress.
