Investigations into a gunshot incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo in Kwabenya, Greater Accra Region, have been initiated by the Madina Divisional Police Command.

Preliminary investigations show that the event happened while the former lawmaker was visiting her late father’s home in Kwabenya, according to a statement released by the Ghana Police Service’s Regional Public Affairs Unit on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

Adwoa Safo reported the incident to the Kwabenya Police Station after suffering a gunshot wound to her left ear, according to the police.

Additionally, the former MP gave the police a car with the license plate GN 3482-24, which is reportedly the subject of current investigations due to visible bullet damage.

She has been given a Police Medical Report Form and is presently undergoing medical care, according to the police.

Investigators have kept the damaged car for forensic analysis in an attempt to determine the circumstances surrounding the occurrence.

It is anticipated that the exercise will assist in identifying the gunfire’s origin and reconstructing the events.
