A home ownership scheme specifically designed for Ghanaian military personnel will be introduced by President John Dramani Mahama as part of larger initiatives to enhance their long-term security and well-being.

Speaking during the Ghana Military Academy’s Regular Career Course 63 Graduation Ceremony in Accra, Mahama emphasized that good and reasonably priced housing is one of the most pressing demands of military members.

“We’ll address the most pressing concerns of your troops, starting with the need for affordable housing. We’ll focus on constructing new housing units in the barracks while refurbishing dilapidated and abandoned military accommodations across the nation,” he said.

No member of the armed forces should have to put up with subpar living conditions, he emphasized. In response, officers and soldiers will be able to own private residences during or after active duty through the Armed Forces Home Ownership Scheme.

“In addition to improved accommodation in our barracks, we’ll establish the Armed Forces Home Ownership Scheme to provide officers and soldiers with the opportunity to own their own private homes,” Mahama stated.

It is anticipated that the program will support current military infrastructure improvements and significantly raise service members’ morale nationwide.
