Mr. Sammy Gyamfi ESQ has been named the Precious Minerals Marketing Company’s (PMMC) acting managing director by President John Dramani Mahama.
“In that role, Mr. Gyamfi will be responsible for setting up the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), one of the key promises in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 manifesto,” the presidency explained in a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President (Acting), dated Thursday, January 16, 2025.
The statement clarified that the Minister for Finance would oversee the creation of the GoldBod.
“The GoldBod is one of the top priorities of the Mahama administration aimed at economic revitalization and shall, among other things, be responsible for the sustainable management and marketing of the country’s gold resources for the benefit of the Ghanaian people.” “It will include formalizing the small-scale gold mining sector and providing mining support services for the industry.” The statement continued.
As a seasoned attorney and Economic Policy Analyst, Mr. Gyamfi contributes a lot of knowledge to the position. He graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Law. He also has a Ghana School of Law Barrister at Law credential.
He also completed executive programs in Strategic Leadership and Emerging Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School, and he received a Master of Arts in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana.
One of Mr. Gyamfi’s previous employment experiences was with Exton Cubic Group Limited, one of Ghana’s top mining companies.
His leadership and strategic skills are further demonstrated by his notoriety as the NDC’s National Communications Officer.
The establishment of the Ghana Gold Board will be a major step in formalizing and maximizing Ghana’s gold industry while guaranteeing that its advantages are distributed fairly among the populace.
