Samuel Dubik Mahama, the Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has tendered his resignation.
It is reported that Dubik Mahama submitted his letter of resignation to the ECG Board Chairman on Wednesday.
However, there was no formal explanation given in the letter for his resignation.
President Akufo-Addo nominated Mr. Mahama, who assumed the position on May 16, 2022.
He recounted his two years as the head of ECG and highlighted five major accomplishments.
1. Implementing digital solutions to streamline (cashless) payment and billing processes, combating losses and corruption.
2. Successfully revamped the ECG PowerApp, resulting in a surge of active users from 500,000 to over 3.5 million.
3. Elevated the company’s monthly revenue from GHS 400 million to an impressive GHS 1 billion.
4. Significantly reduced meter request backlogs through the Loss Reduction Project (LRP), achieving an injection of 275,000 meters into the system as at 10th May 2024.
5. Currently replacing outdated meters to comply with our enhanced meter management system across operational regions.
He had a non-executive director position at ECG prior to taking on the role of Managing Director, and he has a wealth of expertise in both the public and private sectors.
Mahama has held positions as a partner at Dubik & Associates, Wilkins Engineering, country agent for Gulfsouth Forest Products, and non-executive director at GIHOC Distilleries, among other positions.
In addition to being a graduate of the University of Ghana, he practices law.
