The 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, which outlines the government’s fiscal framework, policy priorities, and expenditure intentions for the upcoming year, will be presented to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025, by Minister of Finance Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
With Ghana getting closer to leaving the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program in May 2026, this year’s presentation is thought to be among the most important in recent years. Therefore, it is anticipated that the budget would present the government’s plan for shifting from IMF supervision to a growth program driven domestically.
The budget is anticipated to be intensively examined by economists, policy experts, and business executives for indications of post-IMF changes, especially in the areas of debt sustainability, public sector spending, and private sector development.
Prioritising job creation, productivity, and economic expansion, Dr. Forson has previously stated that the 2026 budget will be based on targeted investments in important growth sectors including manufacturing, digital innovation, and agriculture.
It is anticipated that the presentation would also highlight initiatives to strengthen social protection programs to safeguard disadvantaged groups, improve domestic income mobilisation, and consolidate macroeconomic stability.
