The yearly spilling of the Bagre Dam downstream through the white and black Voltas in Ghana has begun, according to SONABEL, the operators of the Bagre Dam and Kompienga dam in Burkina Faso, in a transmission to the Upper East Regional NADMO office.
While Kompienga Dam is at 177.66 meters, Bagre Dam’s water level is currently at 233.99 with an 86.38% filling rate.
Floods are predicted to affect farms and properties along the banks of the rivers, and the spilled water is predicted to reach the White and Black Voltas within 48 hours.
