The provisional voter registration has been made available by the Electoral Commission (EC) in conjunction with the register’s one-week public display, which takes place from August 20 to August 27, 2024.
All prospective candidates will be entitled to review the provisional register and, if needed, contest the eligibility of any voters who appear dubious.
Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chairman of the EC responsible for Corporate Services, stated during a news briefing on Monday at the EC headquarters that the commission was following its schedule for dispersing the provisional register.
He explained that the commission must give political parties access to the provisional register within three months after the registration period’s conclusion, as per Regulation 22 of CI 31 as revised by CI 126.
According to Dr. Asare, a mop-up registration will end on August 3, 2023, after the limited registration ended on May 29, 2024.
As a result, by the end of August 2024, the commission is expected to deliver the provisional register.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other parties have already obtained their copies of the external disks with the provisional register, he stated, adding that they are currently available for pickup.
According to him, the voter registration exhibition operation is scheduled to start on August 20 and go through August 27, 2024.
