All heads of government agencies have been instructed by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah to cancel appointments made by the former Akufo-Addo administration after December 7, 2024.

The guideline, which was published in a circular on February 10, 2025, stressed that these kinds of hiring and appointments are incompatible with good governance standards.

Institution heads have been directed by Mr. Debrah to take prompt measures to revoke these appointments and provide his office with a thorough report on their activities by February 17, 2025.

He expressed confidence in their collaboration to ensure adherence to the government’s governance requirements as he wrapped up the directive.

“In line with the government’s position on end-of-tenure appointments and recruitments, I wish to inform you that all such engagements in Ghana’s Public services after December 7, 2024, are inconsistent with established governance practices,” the statement read.
