Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the interior minister, has been given more duties as the acting national security minister by President John Dramani Mahama.

Section 24 of the Securities and Intelligence Act 2020 (Act 1030) is in compliance with the president’s decision.

Speaker Alban Bagbin formally informed Parliament of this during Friday, March 7, 2025, proceedings.

In addition to his responsibilities as interior minister, he is expected to supervise national security activities.

“I convey to the House that I have assigned ministerial responsibility for national security to the Minister of the Interior, Hon. Mohammed-Muntaka Mubarak,” President Mahama wrote in the letter.

A more integrated approach to tackling security issues is anticipated as a result of the action, which should guarantee smooth communication between the Interior Ministry and national security agencies.
