The court has placed Daniel Tuffour, a final-year student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), under custody for the second time in connection with his suspected role in his girlfriend Joana Deladem Yabani’s death.
On February 27, 2025, Yabani’s lifeless body was found on the KNUST campus. After an incident, CCTV footage purportedly showed a man, possibly Tuffour, strangling her to death.
Hours after the event, Tuffour was taken into custody and made his court appearance before being placed under remand.
During his second court appearance, the prosecutor told the judge that the Attorney General’s office had been consulted over the case docket.
As a result, the court granted the prosecution’s request that the suspect stay in detention.
The Attorney General’s recommendation is anticipated to be available by April 1, 2025, when the case has been postponed.
