The official opening of the Kpone Municipal Hospital in the Great Accra Region by the Ghanaian government and the Czech Republic marks a critical turning point in improving Ghanaians’ access to high-quality medical treatment.

A 40-bed inpatient ward, a surgical suite, a delivery unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and an outpatient department are among the contemporary medical amenities found in the VAMED Health Projects CZ s.r.o. facility.

In addition, it has a Services Block, staff offices, and lodging with a maintenance plan and a one-year post-completion warranty.

This project was made feasible by seventy-one and a half million euros in funding from Česká Spořitelna a.s. and Erste Group Bank AG, together with an export credit guarantee of eight point six million euros from the Czech Republic’s Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation, or EGAP.

Health Minister Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, who spoke at the ceremony, stated that the commissioning also represents advancements in a larger project that encompasses Eastern, Ashanti, and Ahafo regions, with hospitals expected to serve communities including Jumapo, Nkwatia, Suame, and Mim.

He asserts that the hospital will support health-led development by giving the local population job and economic opportunities in addition to better access to high-quality healthcare.

He underlined that the facility is a part of a long-term plan to increase access to healthcare by introducing programs like free primary healthcare and making smart investments.

“These efforts are aimed at reducing health inequities and improving overall health outcomes, as evidenced by the decline in maternal and under-five mortality rates in recent years.” He stated.

In order to guarantee that healthcare facilities are fully operational and available to all Ghanaians, Hon. Akandoh also reiterated the government’s commitment to finish and operationalize all hospital projects across the country.

His Excellency In a recent speech, Czech President Petr Pavel emphasized his nation’s great pride in its partnership with Ghana.

He underlined that in addition to being a major infrastructural development, the Kpone Municipal Hospital also symbolizes the growing ties between Ghana and the Czech Republic.
