The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, will attend the next West African Bodybuilding Championship on April 24 at the National Theatre in Accra, following a formal invitation from the event’s organisers.

As part of initiatives to support fitness, sports development, and regional cooperation, the competition, which is currently in its fifth year, will feature competitors from all around the sub-region, including Nigeria, Liberia, and Côte d’Ivoire.

The tournament seeks to establish Ghana as a major force in the bodybuilding and fitness sector while giving young people the chance to lead healthy lives.

Additionally, a number of prominent dignitaries, such as ambassadors and the Minister of Sports, are anticipated to attend.

The Mayor praised the idea, calling it an admirable attempt to represent Accra and Ghana on the global arena, during a courtesy visit to formally welcome him to the event.

He reiterated the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s (AMA) dedication to funding initiatives that improve the city’s reputation internationally and encourage young people to participate in sports and fitness.

The Mayor gave the organisers the assurance that the AMA will look for methods to help make the event a success.

During a courtesy call on the Mayor, the organisers mentioned that this year’s event had been moved to a bigger location to reflect its increasing prominence and participation from across the world.

They maintain that the competition fosters regional cooperation while promoting Ghana’s presence in the bodybuilding and fitness industries.

Additionally, they called for assistance, especially in making it easier for students from higher education institutions who had indicated a desire to go but might not be able to purchase tickets.
