Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Caucus attended an orientation session hosted by the Ghanaian Parliament in partnership with Transparency International (TI) Ghana.
Promoting Beneficial Ownership Transparency (BOT) and open governance were the main goals of the session.
Key elements of Ghana’s 5th OGP National Action Plan (2023–2027) were highlighted in the workshop’s comprehensive presentation of the OGP initiative’s national and international context.
The current status of BOT in Ghana was also explained to the MPs, with particular attention paid to the crucial role that Parliament plays in promoting its implementation.

Since joining the OGP in 2011, Ghana has been dedicated to enhancing accountability and transparency throughout all governmental systems.
One of the workshop’s main highlights was the nation’s renewed emphasis on putting the BOT—a tool intended to combat corruption, tax fraud, and illicit money flows—into practice as part of its second National Action Plan.
This includes initiatives to improve the procedures for open contracting:
The orientation is part of Parliament’s broader strategy to strengthen democratic governance, promote inclusive policymaking, and deliver measurable outcomes of public interest.
Participants left the workshop with a strengthened resolve to champion the ideals of open government.
Members of the OGP Caucus reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring effective parliamentary oversight in the implementation of Ghana’s National Action Plan, further reinforcing the country’s leadership role in transparency reforms.
