Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has been elected the new Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after securing a decisive victory in the party’s regional elections.
COKA, a former NPP Chairman for the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency, won the election with 658 votes, representing 70.98% of the total ballots cast.
He defeated his only contender, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, a former Member of Parliament for Bantama, who polled 269 votes, equivalent to 29.02%.
The Ashanti Regional NPP election also produced new executives to oversee the party’s activities and strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Amofa Jantuah was elected First Vice Chairman, while Addai Opoku Aikins secured the position of Second Vice Chairman. Dr Francis Adomako will serve as Regional Secretary, with Kingsley Bonsu Kyeretie as Deputy Secretary.
Other elected executives include Denis Kwakwa as Organiser, Martin Ameyaw as Youth Organiser, Beatrice Owusu as Women’s Organiser, Helena Mensah as Treasurer, Keskine Owusu Poku as Communication Officer, and Abubakar Razak as Nasara Organiser.
Speaking to delegates after the election, Chairman-elect Odeneho Kwaku Appiah called on NPP members to put the contest behind them and unite for the party’s future.
He stressed that unity among party members would be crucial to the NPP’s efforts to regain political power in the 2028 Ghana elections.
“Now, the election is over, family. As we are done with the election, we need to now unite. If we don’t come together, we will not be able to win power. Let’s unite to win power,” COKA said.
The outcome positions COKA to lead the NPP’s Ashanti Regional branch as the party works to reorganise its structures, strengthen grassroots mobilisation and prepare for the next general election.
