Kwame ‘Abronye DC’ Baffoe has been re-elected as the Bono East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), securing another term after a decisive victory in the regional elections.

Abronye DC polled 201 votes to defeat four other contenders in the NPP regional chairmanship election held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Baakuniaba near Sunyani.

His victory allows him to continue leading the NPP’s regional organisational structure and coordinating the party’s political activities across the region as the party prepares for its next phase of political mobilisation ahead of the 2028 Ghana general elections.

A total of 281 delegates from 12 constituencies were expected to participate in the regional election, which was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Security personnel, including police officers, were deployed at the voting centre to ensure public safety and maintain law and order throughout the exercise.

Although some of the contests attracted significant competition among candidates, the NPP Bono East regional election was conducted peacefully without major incidents reported at the voting venue.

Abronye DC’s re-election is expected to strengthen his role in shaping the NPP’s grassroots activities, party organisation and electoral preparations in the region as the opposition party looks ahead to the 2028 elections.
