In spite of Ghana’s limited financial resources, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has reiterated the government’s dedication to funding innovative initiatives that will safeguard the nation’s future.
Speaking at a visit by H.E. Mr. Abdullah KH ALMUSAIBEEH, President of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Dr. Forson commended BADEA’s longstanding assistance to Ghana, especially in the social sector, calling their efforts a blessing.
The Minister added that the government has started investigating the viability of building a new motorway between Accra and Kumasi, calling it a national priority.
The motorway should be finished in two and a half years, he explained.

Dr. Forson added that Ghana’s debt sustainability has much improved and that any future borrowing will only be used for initiatives that would have a long-term positive social and economic benefit.
He emphasized, “I will not borrow for consumption but for transformative projects like this.”
H.E. Mr. ALMUSAIBEEH, President of BADEA, praised the Minister’s suggestions and stated that the Bank is prepared to fund worthwhile initiatives.
