President John Dramani Mahama has said that the eight people who perished in the terrible military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday will be honored with an interdenominational state funeral on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Accra’s Black Star Square.
The Ghana Armed Forces Headquarters, the National Democratic Congress headquarters, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the head office of NADMO have all opened books of condolence from Sunday, August 10 to Thursday, August 14.
On Sunday, August 10, Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed and Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala were buried in the Military Cemetery after Muslim Jannaza prayers.
NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, NADMO Deputy Director-General Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, and the remaining Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, will all be given a state funeral on Friday, August 15, at Black Star Square.
Following that, burial will take place at the Military Cemetery.
The victims of the crash include Minister for Defence Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, NADMO Deputy Director-General Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
