Two people have been detained by police in the Ashanti Region in relation to the death of a 27-year-old who was allegedly stabbed at Tafo-Pankrono.
According to reports, the dead, Owusu Banahene, was discovered lying close to a public restroom and was transported to the hospital, but he passed away there.
The specific cause of his death is still under investigation by authorities, but according to the deceased’s family, the incident may have been sparked by a long-running dispute between rival adolescents from Pankrono and Adabraka zongo.
The Pankrono neighborhood is incensed by the occurrence.
Anokye Clinton, the deceased’s brother, has nonetheless pleaded with the police to move the case along quickly and make sure those responsible are held accountable.
“Young people have been having issues with Pankrono. They frequently come here to steal or engage in combat. They have no idea how to handle a situation if it arises. They always arrive to fight, and this has been happening for generations. When they arrive, we notify the police, who then arrive to make an arrest, but the next day the individual is free to go about his or her business.

“I expect the police to arrest anyone involved,” he continued, “otherwise, things will happen that don’t concern the police. If they don’t all get arrested, action will be taken because we won’t stand by and let our brother be killed in that way.
Since then, police have increased patrols to prevent potential retaliation.
