Vehicular Fire Involving A Benz Cargo Truck On The Adugyama-Bechem Highway

A Benz Cargo Truck with registration number GT-1350-U transporting around 2500 bags of rice from Cote d’Ivoire to Kumasi was involved in a fire on the Adugyama-Bechem route at the Star Oil Filling Station in Adugyama.

At 0453 hrs, the Tepa Fire Station got a distress call and deployed a five-person team led by ADOII Heneampong Williams.

The crew arrived at the scene at 0540 hrs and promptly battled the fire, putting it under control by 0640 hrs and completely extinguishing it at 0813 hrs.

Despite the driver’s companion suffering a slight injury, the firefighters were able to recover nearly 600 bags of rice.

The truck was severely damaged, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The team returned to base about 11:10 a.m., having successfully contained the issue.
