The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has released its Summary of Economic and Financial Data, which shows that in August 2025, mobile money transactions in Ghana totaled GHC354.1 billion.

Although the amount is a little less than the GHC355.4 billion in July, it nevertheless shows how dominant mobile payments are in the nation’s financial system.

As a result of the increasing usage of digital payment channels, the number of transactions increased from 778 million in July to 831 million in August.

With 25.1 million active accounts and 77.7 million registered mobile money accounts, Ghana has made strides in financial inclusion.

The steady increase in transaction volumes and active users, according to industry observers, shows growing confidence in mobile money for regular payments, remittances, and commercial transactions, even though the total value of transactions decreased slightly.

Gains were also seen in mobile money interoperability, as 26.4 million cross-network transfers helped transaction values reach GHC4.9 billion in August.

Analysts feel that the steady growth of digital payments, in spite of recent currency changes and budgetary challenges, indicates that Ghana’s payment systems are resilient and solidifies mobile money as a vital component of the financial industry.
