The woman who was violently abused by her estranged husband in a widely shared video was visited by Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

The Minister gave her assurances during the visit about the Ministry’s complete support, which included welfare interventions, legal counsel, and psychosocial support to guarantee her safety and wellbeing.

Since then, an Accra Magistrate Court has placed the defendant and two of his siblings under police detention while the inquiry is ongoing.

The Ministry reiterated its dedication to helping victims of abuse and collaborating with interested parties to reduce domestic violence nationwide.

The Ministry advises the public to always be on guard and report any suspected incidents of abuse by calling the closest police station, the Ministry’s Helpline of Hope call centre at 0800-800-800 or 0800-900-900, or the Domestic Violence Call Centre at 0800-111-222/055 175 75 75 (WhatsApp).
