Provisional results for the 2025 West African Senior High School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) have been made available to school applicants by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Because 6,295 candidates brought foreign materials into the exam rooms, including printed materials, prepared notes, and textbooks, their subject scores were canceled.
Additionally, all 653 candidates’ results have been canceled due to their use of cell phones in the testing rooms.
The subject results of 908 applicants and the full results of 158 candidates have been withheld for various alleged offenses, according to a press release from WAEC announcing the results’ publication on Saturday night, November 29, 2025.
However, due to alleged collusion, some subject results for candidates from 185 schools have been withheld. The WAEC, which was signed by John K. Kapi, Head of Public Affairs, stated that these incidents are still being investigated.
“We are working around the clock to ensure that the withheld results of these candidates are published before the end of December 2025 depending on the outcome of investigations,” the statement continued.
Additionally, a total of 35 individuals—19 of whom are teachers—were determined to have committed conduct that jeopardized the examination’s integrity.
“So far 19 of them have been arraigned before court and have been convicted to fines or terms of imprisonment. The remaining 16 are yet to presented before the courts by the police,”it said.
The list of teachers will be submitted to the Director General of the Ghana Education Service for additional disciplinary action, according to WAEC, regardless of what the courts determine.
