The government plans to build 350 modern health posts across Ghana as part of its Free Primary Healthcare initiative to increase access to primary care.
Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Minister of Health, made this announcement while visiting important project locations where work on the new facilities designated for the Free Primary Healthcare plan has already started.
Before visiting an active construction site at the Social Welfare area in Madina, the Minister and Felix Ofosu Kwakye, the Minister of State in charge of Government communication, visited the Mega Warehouse in Tema, where building materials for the facilities are held.

He states that each Health Post will have all the necessary amenities, such as solar power, potable water, restrooms, a pharmacy, consulting rooms, waiting areas, delivery rooms, and observation spaces.
The new facilities, which he describes as upgraded community health centers, are strategically designed to serve high-density areas like markets and truck parks.
Strict health regulations would be upheld, Akandoh promised, adding that all institutions will be staffed by trained experts and provided with authorised, superior medical necessities.
The Free Primary Healthcare Initiative seeks to refocus Ghana’s healthcare system on early diagnosis and prevention.
