Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, the Mayor of Accra, has revealed that the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, the Ga State, and the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council are working together to improve the city’s security and governance.

He stated that the cooperation was crucial because political, traditional, and local government authorities needed to work together to ensure the wellbeing of the populace, particularly children.

On Monday, the Mayor made this statement while visiting many Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centers in Accra on the first day of the exam with King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, and Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister.

The purpose of the visit was to oversee the start of the BECE, support the candidates, and make sure that everything was set up for the papers to be written smoothly.

Mayor Allotey said children were the future of the country, and leaders had a responsibility to support and protect their interests.

He said that in order to assist the candidates and reassure them that the city was behind them, he, the Ga Mantse, and the Greater Accra Regional Minister made the decision to travel to the testing locations together.

The Mayor stated that all plans seemed to be proceeding as planned and that the team had noticed that the examination had begun smoothly at the centers visited.

He encouraged the applicants to stay focused, self-assured, and resolute throughout the exam period and expressed the hope that they would achieve high grades and make history in this year’s exam.

Along with praising teachers, supervisors, invigilators, and education officials for their involvement in preparing the candidates and guaranteeing a smooth start to the exam, he also urged them to depend on what they had been taught and refrain from any kind of exam malpractice.

The candidates represented the nation’s future, according to the Ga Mantse, who gave them 3,000 mathematical sets to help them with the test and lessen their workload. He added that any of them could become Ghana’s president in the future if they continued to be disciplined and dedicated to their studies.

The participation of the Ga Mantse, the mayor of Accra, chiefs, and queen mothers, according to the Greater Accra Regional Minister, showed the leadership’s unified support for the candidates’ success.
