The US$28 million pledge from South Korea to support Ghana’s digital STEM education initiative goes beyond a simple offer of development funding.

The next stage of Ghana’s economic transition will rely more on the calibre of its human capital than on natural resources, which is a subtle but significant realisation.

The funding will support the Digital STEM Education Project, an initiative aimed at modernising science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education through digital tools, enhanced learning infrastructure, and more robust teacher training. The funding was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Ghana and South Korea.
