The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI), through the One Million Coders Programme (OMCP), has commenced a five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) programme focused on Datacom and Access Network Technologies.

The training programme began on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE) and is scheduled to end on Friday, September 4, 2026.

The initiative forms part of the government’s efforts to develop a strong pool of skilled ICT trainers who can transfer practical digital and networking skills to people across Ghana under the One Million Coders Programme.

Huawei Experts Lead Digital Skills Training

The Training of Trainers programme is being facilitated by certified technical experts from Huawei Technologies. The sessions combine expert-led lectures, practical exercises and competency assessments to provide participants with hands-on experience in modern networking technologies.

Participants are receiving intensive training in various areas of Datacom and Access Network Technologies, with classes taking place daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

One Million Coders Trainers to Train 20 People Each

Participants who successfully complete the training will be expected to serve as certified One Million Coders Programme trainers.

As part of their post-training responsibility, each certified trainer will be required to share the knowledge and practical skills gained with at least 20 members of the public.

This approach is expected to significantly expand the reach of the programme and help more Ghanaians acquire valuable digital skills, ICT knowledge and networking competencies.

Government Expands Digital Skills Development in Ghana

The One Million Coders Programme is expected to contribute to the development of Ghana’s digital skills ecosystem while supporting the government’s broader objective of preparing citizens for opportunities in the growing digital economy and technology sector.

The national programme remains a key government initiative aimed at creating a digitally skilled workforce capable of taking advantage of employment, entrepreneurship and innovation opportunities created by technological advancement.

Through initiatives such as the Training of Trainers programme, the government aims to expand access to ICT training in Ghana and equip more citizens with relevant skills for the future of work.
