GoldBod Targets US$1.2 Billion in Forex for November 2026

GoldBod has projected an increase in foreign exchange generation for November 2026, targeting US$1.2 billion from its ASM gold trading activities.

Out of the projected amount, approximately US$800 million is expected to be made available to authorised commercial banks to improve forex liquidity and support stability in Ghana’s foreign exchange market.

The projection represents a significant contribution to the government’s broader efforts to strengthen foreign reserves, improve foreign exchange availability and support macroeconomic stability.

GoldBod Uses GoFX Platform to Support Forex Market Stability

The Ghana Gold Board indicated that all foreign exchange sales will continue to be conducted through its GoldBod GoFX platform.

The transactions will follow the approved Foreign Exchange Sales and Intermediation Framework, which is designed to promote transparency, fairness and compliance with applicable financial regulations.

Through this arrangement, GoldBod aims to ensure that foreign exchange generated from Ghana’s small-scale gold trade is channelled through authorised commercial banks and contributes effectively to the country’s forex market.

GoldBod Supports Ghana’s Foreign Reserve Accumulation

GoldBod has reaffirmed its commitment to generating foreign exchange for Ghana and supporting the Bank of Ghana’s efforts to increase the country’s international reserves.

The initiative forms part of the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Policy (GANRAP), which seeks to strengthen Ghana’s external reserve position and improve the country’s capacity to manage foreign exchange pressures.

The continued sale of forex generated from ASM gold trading operations is expected to support reserve accumulation, improve foreign currency supply and contribute to stability in the Ghanaian economy.

GoldBod’s latest announcement underscores the strategic importance of Ghana’s gold sector in generating foreign exchange, supporting the cedi and strengthening the country’s financial and economic outlook.

The announcement was signed by the Finance and Trade Directorate of the Ghana Gold Board on November 2, 2026.
