Speaker Alban Bagbin has called an emergency recall of Parliament, and it is scheduled to meet again today, September 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader, filed a petition to force the recall after expressing the Majority caucus’ displeasure with the Speaker’s decision to adjourn the previous session indefinitely on July 30, 2024.

The One District, One Factory Program beneficiaries’ requests for tax exemptions, the Ghana Financial Stability Fund, and a financing agreement between the government of Ghana and the International Development Association are just a few of the important issues that will be discussed during the emergency meeting.

The agenda also includes the discussion of multiple measures.

The Speaker has announced that today’s meeting would take place in the Dome at the International Conference Centre due to ongoing repairs at the 9th Parliament’s main chamber.

It seems unlikely that the repairs will be finished in time for the recall.
