Today, Thursday, December 5, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is launching important hospital developments as part of the historic Agenda 111 plan.
The goal of this game-changing initiative is to increase access to high-quality healthcare services nationwide and develop Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure.
The Ashanti Region’s Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital at Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital are among the facilities being put into service.
A key component of the president’s effort to improve healthcare delivery, these facilities are part of an ambitious plan to build 111 district and specialty hospitals across the country.
The new facilities’ superior capabilities were further explained by Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, the Presidential Advisor on Health, who said they are perfectly equipped to handle a variety of healthcare needs.
“We have a 100-bed hospital complete with an accident and emergency centre, neonatal and paediatric units, a maternity wing, a kitchen, a mortuary, an OPD, a pharmacy, X-ray facilities, and a laboratory. It is a comprehensive healthcare facility,” Dr. Nsiah-Asare clarified.
In order to guarantee that the hospitals can offer a broad range of medical services, he also emphasized the inclusion of specialized departments including eye care, dental care, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), public health units, and consulting rooms.
Addressing the shortcomings in Ghana’s healthcare system, lowering patient overcrowding, and improving health outcomes, especially in marginalized communities, are the goals of the Agenda 111 program.
