Ebi Bright, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) three-time Tema Central parliamentary candidate, won this year’s poll with 18,539 votes.
After defeating Yves Hanson-Nortey, the current Member of Parliament (MP) for the seat, in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries, her candidate, Charles Forson, who is running for the first time, received 18,421.
Ghanaian politician and actress Ms. Bright ran for the Tema Central seat in 2016 but lost to Kofi Brako of the NPP. In 2020, she ran against the incumbent MP, Yves Hanson-Nortey, who is also from the NPP.
With both parties actively involved in the collation and verification of the findings, there is an increased level of tension, scrutiny, and security during the declaration and collation.
