Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu has been named Acting Government Statistician by President John Dramani Mahama, pending Council of State consultations.
An expert in macroeconomic analysis, forecasting, and policy research, Dr. Iddrisu is the Director of the Ministry of Finance’s Economic Strategy and Research Division.
According to the announcement, “he contributes to the National Budget and Economic Policy and provides technical guidance for the preparation of the Ghana Macroeconomic Outlook Report.”
He has impacted important policy choices and governance tactics in his past leadership positions in economic research and forecasting.
He has degrees from the University of Ghana and the London School of Economics, as well as a PhD in International Development Studies from Japan’s National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the president’s spokesperson, signed a statement confirming the appointment.
