Following the withdrawal of Dr. Kwabena Duffuor’s injunction against the elections by one of the candidates, the Electoral Commission (EC) has agreed to oversee the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) presidential and parliamentary primaries.

On May 9, Dr. Duffuor filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction to stop the primaries because of several errors in the delegates register.

On Friday, May 12, following discussions with the party leadership, he subsequently withdrew the lawsuit.

The parties came to an agreement, according to a statement from the Electoral Commission, and it was decided to oversee the primaries set for Saturday, May 13.

It may be recalled that on Thursday, the EC ordered the NDC to clear itself of all legal obligations before it could oversee the election after it became clear that one of the party’s candidates for flagbearer had requested an injunction against the vote due to inconsistencies in the delegate photo album to be used for voting on Saturday.
