Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) re-elected candidate for the Asawase Constituency, has criticized the motivation behind the Minority’s leadership changes earlier this year.

He said that he was the target of the modifications made by the national executive, which had just been elected.

The Asawase MP said, “I can tell you it was part of the strategy to get me out,” after winning the NDC’s primary on May 13 and claiming victory.

“No mature politician would deny that was a part of the plan to get me out,”

He maintained that Dr. Avedzi was no longer running for reelection while Haruna Iddrisu was winning Tamale South with no opposition.

“At the time, doing that was part of the plan to get me out because I was the only one with a contender.”

“However, as I’ve said often, God is not their village’s chief, and He doesn’t hate people because you do. God does not disapprove of people because you do. He examines our hearts.

The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, and Deputy Minority Leader, Dr. James Klutse Avedzi, were replaced by Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson and Emmanuel Armah-Buah, respectively. Muntaka was replaced as Minority Chief Whip by Governor Kwame Agbodza.

Masawudu Mubarick, who polled 735 votes against the incumbent’s 1,063 votes in the primary on Saturday, said he was proud of his work for the Asawase Constituency.
