Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations Stan Dogbe has announced that President John Dramani Mahama took a commercial jet to Japan and Singapore.

Mr. Dogbe clarified that the decision shows the President’s dedication to using state resources wisely during a period when the government is trying to reduce expenses and improve economic management.

It is anticipated that the president’s visits to Japan and then Singapore would center on strengthening relationships between the two countries and looking into new avenues for collaboration in trade, investment, and development aid.

In the past, President Mahama has emphasized the importance of efficiency and modesty in government spending, urging public servants to set an example.

Mr. Dogbe’s remark comes in response to allegations made by certain members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the President took a chartered airplane out of Accra following the Thanksgiving ceremony for the late Defense Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Bomah.

All government employees were instructed by the president to fly in economy class and refrain from unnecessary travel.
