Ameyaw-Akumfi is released by the NIB

The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has released Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, the former chairman of the Public Procurement Authority Board, from custody.

His detention in relation to a financial inquiry while serving as the Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF) preceded this event.

Ken Kuranchie, his attorney, verified Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s release.

Ken Kuranchie claims that on Sunday morning, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi was at home when a group of guys in three vehicles showed up and told him he was needed at the NIB.

He willingly accompanied them to the NIB headquarters before being brought to the NIB offices in Kawukudi, Accra.

According to Kuranchie, the inquiry concerns financial issues pertaining to specific approvals issued during Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s tenure as GIIF’s board chairman.
