The Minority in Parliament has been asked to rethink their choice to abstain from Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo’s (designated deputy minister for trade and industry) vetting process.
Citing financial difficulties, the Minority had declared their intention to forego the vetting procedure in favor of smaller government.
The Majority Caucus called the boycott “regrettable” and asked the Minority to reconsider their position in a statement dated Tuesday, July 2.
“The reasons provided by the Minority for their boycott are regrettable,” the statement said.
“It is crucial for all members of Parliament to participate in the vetting process to ensure the smooth functioning of government,” they stated.
“Reconsider their decision in the interest of continuous and uninterrupted governance, especially during these challenging times,” the letter implored the Minority.
The government’s attempts to interact with all sectors and stakeholders in order to address the issues facing the country were highlighted by the Majority, who emphasized the significance of upholding governance without interference.
